This week, over 100 countries publicly committed to protecting 30% of the ocean by 2030 at the United Nations event, Transformative Action for Nature and People.
The international alignment around the “30 by 30″ conservation goal represents the building momentum to protect the ocean for nature, climate, and all people, especially inclusive to “the rights of Indigenous peoples and local communities.”
This international effort seeks to put humanity on a path toward “living in harmony with nature.”
