Through December 3rd, ministers from all over the world will convene in Geneva, Switzerland for the World Trade Organization’s upcoming 12th Ministerial Conference. Much anticipated discussion will revolve around the draft of a new agreement to end harmful fishing subsidies for people and the planet.
Harmful fishing practices and subsidies pose risks to our ocean and “loom even larger every passing year, at the risk also to people’s livelihood and food security.”
Leaders, however, are optimistic that they can reach an agreement in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
